'Come on you lot, get on board the Gan shuttle, we haven't got all day, there is an island far far away that measures a mile square that we must try to get to, also it might be a good idea to wear swimming trunks instead of KD just in case we miss the island'

Oh! I see that is why it's called the Astra, you can always see the stars on the screen and in the sky! Station cinema at Gan in May 1959, good place to have an open air cinema with over 100 inches of rain a year!

Another of 48's Hastings TG580 that didn't quite make it into Gan on 03/07/1959, tried to land in a crosswind exceeding 23 knots.

Gan runway at night from the inside of a Mk C1 Hastings, aircraft on auto pilot on final approach, never mind the pilots they've already left the scene.

Andy Mutch from SASF Gan still searching for survivors today, thanks for the picture Andy!
